Agnes Nthabeleng Moletsane, (39) is the first female heavy-duty, Code C1 PrDP (Goods & Passenger), truck driver to be appointed by Key Hire.

Debbie Botha, Manager Branch at Key Hire, comments – “Moletsane completely aligns to our heavy-duty driver job description – no amendments were needed to accommodate a ‘lady’ truck driver. It has been a smooth transition into the position. Moletsane has excellent people skills which she developed while working as a tour guide and game ranger in her previous jobs.”

Botha observes – “Nine years of truck driving is the kind of experience you need, to meet the demands of a truck driver in the leasing and rental industry. A typical day in the life of a Key Hire driver is however not just about driving trucks. It will include vehicle inspections pre and post rental with clients while reporting vehicle physical and mechanical faults to the operations and fleet department. And then there are the “drive-outs” for clients. Customer service is what it’s all about when delivering and collecting vehicles for clients.”

Botha concludes – “It’s a team effort at Key Hire when offering advice to the operations team to expedite deliveries and collections, reporting on unsafe areas, roads and sites, etc.”

Agnes Moletsane has always enjoyed driving as she looks back – “When I was just twelve, I started driving my father’s bakkies on the farm. My mother insisted my father teach me properly as she feared that I would ‘borrow’ the car to go driving on my own!”

As the mother of three boys, Moletsane must ‘take home the bacon'. Key Hire congratulates Moletsane on this ground-breaking appointment and looks forward to supporting her safety and success behind the wheel of an Isuzu HCV.
