Keeping in with its strategy to be a dominant player in KZN, Key Hire recently moved into
new premises in Rossburgh. This now brings the total number of branches in KZN to three
covering the coastal, central and inland areas.
The new site is 3 400 square metres of which a significant part is under roof and includes
brand new offices, driver restrooms, workshops and wash bay. Both the workshop and wash
bay can accommodate two heavy duty trucks simultaneously. The site, being in the centre of
the Durban South Industrial Basin, is strategically located with easy access to both the N2
and N3. The branch manager, Lenashan Chetty, says that "the key to success in the truck
rental business is to be able to supply your clients with a timeous and cost-effective
transport solution, so this easy access is of huge importance when it comes to offering our
customers the best possible service". "The increased yard space also fits in with our plans to
increase our fleet size, although in our business an empty yard is more favourable", says
Chetty, with a twinkle in his eye.
"This is a huge step up", says Faizal Mohideen, Managing Director, "especially when you
consider the fact that Key Hire started 50 years ago from a caravan in the premises next
door which was then known as Makro". Mohideen adds further, "This investment of
approximately 10 million Rand bodes well for the area which has recently seen a lot of
renewed investment and these investments together with ours can only bring new
opportunities for all the local and surrounding businesses".
Mohideen concludes – "We are very excited about the future!"
